Sourdough Grilled Cheese with a side of soup
Sourdough makes a great grilled cheese, the bread I get from Aldi is like 2 sandwiches in one. It requires 4 slices of cheese. I start by preheating the pan and adding a spoon of butter let it melt, then I dip one slice at a time. Place butter side down across from each other and add cheese, cover and let it melt and toast. lift up one slice and flip it onto the other cheese sides touching. I cut in strips so it is easily dippable in to my tomato soup.

Here’s a fun story from ChatGpt
The Quest for the Perfect Avocado
Once upon a time, in the faraway land of Quixotica, there lived a humble chef named Marco. Marco was not your typical chef. His culinary skills were, in fact, renowned not for their precision or expertise, but for their sheer, unbridled chaos. His kitchen was a cacophony of sizzling pans, spilling spices, and the occasional smoke alarm. Yet, amidst all the madness, there was one thing Marco was absolutely obsessed with: avocados.
It wasn’t just any avocado obsession, mind you. Marco was on a quest—a grand, noble quest—to find the perfect avocado. And not just any avocado that might be ripe enough for guacamole, but the perfect avocado that could speak to the soul, the avocado that could unlock the hidden mysteries of the universe, an avocado that would turn any dish into an ethereal experience. He was searching for the avocado.
His journey began early one crisp morning when he was serving breakfast in his restaurant, The Green Spoon. The cafe’s walls were adorned with beautiful paintings of avocados, which Marco had painted himself. He was halfway through preparing a perfectly ordinary avocado toast when he noticed something peculiar: the avocado he was about to slice open seemed… almost too ordinary.
This wasn’t the avocado he had been dreaming of. This was an avocado with a simple pit, smooth green skin, and soft flesh—nothing special. It was, dare he say it, bland. Marco recoiled in horror. “No! This can’t be! The search must continue!” he declared dramatically, tossing the avocado aside like a sword-wielding hero abandoning his weapon.
He set off on his journey that very moment, with nothing but a knife, a cutting board, and a singular passion to find the avocado of his dreams.
The First Encounter
Marco’s travels first took him to the majestic Avocado Grove, a place known for its lush green trees and its mysterious folklore. It was said that only the wisest of avocado connoisseurs could find the perfect fruit amongst the boughs. Marco wandered for hours through the grove, inspecting each avocado with an intensity that would make even the most devoted fruit lovers tremble. He picked, sliced, and tasted dozens, each one more disappointing than the last.
One particularly large avocado looked promising. It had a thick skin, which Marco believed might hold the secret to the perfect texture. But as he opened it, he found that the inside was—disastrously—mushy. The perfect avocado was nowhere to be found.
Frustrated but undeterred, Marco continued deeper into the grove, where a figure appeared in the distance. It was an old man, hunched over with a cane, walking slowly toward him.
“Are you the one searching for the perfect avocado?” the old man asked in a raspy voice.
Marco nodded eagerly. “Yes! I must find it! Where is it hidden? I’ve searched high and low, but nothing compares!”
The old man smiled knowingly. “Ah, the perfect avocado can’t be found, young chef. It finds you. When you stop searching, it will come to you.”
Marco, puzzled, considered the old man’s words. But before he could ask for clarification, the figure vanished into the trees, leaving Marco alone to ponder this strange advice.
The Journey to the Temple of Avocado
Marco knew he couldn’t give up. The old man’s cryptic words echoed in his mind as he journeyed toward the legendary Temple of Avocado, a place said to be the home of the world’s most perfect avocado. The temple, hidden deep in the mountains of Guacamole, was a place of pilgrimage for avocado enthusiasts everywhere.
As he climbed the winding path toward the temple, Marco grew more determined. He had sacrificed so much—countless hours in the kitchen, endless trials of slicing, mashing, and dicing—and yet the perfect avocado had eluded him. This temple, he hoped, would be the answer.
Upon arriving at the temple, Marco was greeted by a group of monks, all dressed in robes made entirely of avocado skins. They led him inside to a chamber bathed in soft green light. At the center of the room stood a pedestal, and atop it was a single, glowing avocado.
“Is this it?” Marco whispered, awe-struck.
“Yes,” the chief monk said. “This is the one you seek. But first, you must understand the true nature of avocados. It is not about the fruit itself, but about the experience of finding it.”
Marco reached out to touch the avocado, but as his fingers brushed the skin, the fruit rolled away, vanishing into thin air.
“No!” Marco shouted, a sense of panic rising in his chest. “Where did it go? It was right here! I felt it!”
The monks simply nodded, their expressions serene. “You have found the truth,” the chief monk intoned. “The perfect avocado cannot be held, only appreciated in its absence.”
The Return Home
Defeated and enlightened, Marco returned to The Green Spoon, no closer to finding the elusive avocado, yet filled with a strange sense of peace. As he sat down to think about his journey, a young customer entered the restaurant and ordered—what else?—avocado toast.
Marco prepared the toast with his usual flair, spreading the avocado on the bread with care. He was about to serve it when he paused. The avocado was perfectly ripe, smooth and creamy, just the right amount of firmness. It wasn’t the glowing, mythical avocado he had searched for, but as he gazed at it, something clicked inside him.
“Perhaps,” Marco thought, “it was never about finding the perfect avocado, but about appreciating the ones I already have.”
With a new sense of clarity, Marco served the avocado toast. The customer took a bite and smiled. “This is the best avocado toast I’ve ever had!”
And in that moment, Marco realized that his quest had come full circle. The perfect avocado had never been a mythical fruit or a glowing treasure; it had always been about the love and care he put into every avocado he used. The avocado, imperfect though it may be, was always perfect when it was treated with respect.
From that day forward, Marco no longer searched for the perfect avocado. Instead, he cherished each one, knowing that the true joy was in the experience of enjoying it.
And so, his quest came to an end, not with the discovery of the perfect avocado, but with the understanding that perhaps the perfect avocado was, after all, the one right in front of you.
This quirky tale weaves together the idea of chasing perfection and finding fulfillment in the present moment, with a fun, food-centered theme that fits well into any food blog!
