Pantry/ Fridge Staples In Our House

Pasta– Spaghetti, macaroni, lasagna, wide egg, all these noodles will last a long time in an airtight container.

Peanut butter– This is a staple because it is a great protein source, can be used to make cookies or just eat a spoonful.

Eggs– Eggs don’t expire on the date on the package. Most times eggs will stay good for 3 months past. Eggs usually are on sale a couple of times a year here. I will stock up buying 6 dozen each time. Lowest price I have found 59 cents.

Pop Corn– Kernels last forever, just pop and salt

Cooking Oil – I keep about 2 quarts on hand, I put one in the fryer and the other is used for random cooking.

Spices– All kinds of spices, chicken rubs, pork rubs, garlic powder, salt to name a few. These are inexpensive I usually buy them at the dollar tree.

Frozen Vegetables– Mixed Vegetables for soups and stews, broccoli and cauliflower,

Broth– Chicken and beef are both staples. I like the carton because I can refrigerate the rest. In a can I have to find something to store it in.

Canned Vegetables– Tomatoes, green beans, corn, and spinach. Most times these don’t expire for 1 to 2 years from purchase. I will stock up when the price is 50 cents or less.

Tea Bags– Tea bags used to not have an expiration, but now they come with at least a year expire date.

Sugar– Sugar never expires, keep it cold or freezing for best results and to keep out bugs.

Pasta Sauce – Jar sauce is great to have in a pinch, but to be honest I always use jar sauce.
